EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Audio of a 911 call shows the mother of a man charged with fatally shooting a 20-year-old offered authorities other details including the possible whereabouts of human remains.
Police say they found decomposing remains Friday behind 38-year-old Earl Martin's home after receiving a tip. WFIE-TV reports that a woman identifying herself as Martin's mother told police about a bullet hole in her door and something in a trash can near the house smelled bad.
The coroner identified the remains as 41-year-old Erica Bradfield. An autopsy showed she died from a head gunshot wound. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Martin was arrested last week and charged with murder, robbery and other charges in connection with 20-year-old Christopher Hoefling's death.
Martin is being held without bond.
