BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont man accused of fatally shooting another man following a bar dispute in 2015 has been found guilty of second-degree murder.

Jurors in Burlington reached their verdict Monday evening, finding 26-year-old Chavis Murphy not guilty of the original charge of first-degree murder, but guilty of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say the Burlington man fatally shot 28-year-old Obafemi Adedapo, of New York, after a bar dispute over a woman. Murphy had pleaded not guilty.

Earlier Monday, the jury told the judge that it was unable to reach a verdict after deliberating for more than 11 hours between Friday and Monday. Jurors were then sent back for more deliberations.

The defense says it will appeal the verdict.
