WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Fire officials say three first responders were taken to the hospital after finding a chemical spill at a building in Rhode Island.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 7 p.m. Monday for a reported fire at a Woonsocket mill. The fire was quickly extinguished when the firefighters found the spill.

WPRI-TV reports the first responders were sent to the hospital after they reported irritation in their throats.

Fire officials say the chemical spill poses no danger to the public.

Investigators are working to identify the chemicals and the cause of the fire.
