QUINCY, Mass. (AP) — Two people charged in the assault of a 92-year-old woman who was pushed down and robbed in Massachusetts last week have appeared in court.

Not-guilty pleas were entered Monday to robbery and assault charges on behalf of 26-year-old Kayla Noel-Brown and 27-year-old Markell Cruz at their arraignment in Quincy. Cruz was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing set for Thursday. Noel-Brown was held on $2,500 bail. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for Dec. 22.

Doris Prendiville told police she had been walking home Nov. 19 when a man threw her to the ground and ran away with her purse.

A woman helped Prendiville back into her building, but police say surveillance video captured the woman speaking with the suspect shortly before the robbery.

Noel-Brown and Cruz were arrested on Saturday.
