SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Jonas Lewis rushed for two touchdowns and Eric Lewis scored on a 79-yard punt return to lead San Diego State to a 48-21 victory over San Jose State on Saturday in the Western Athletic Conference.

Jonas Lewis ran for 90 yards on 22 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 4 yards in the first half as the Aztecs took a 35-7 lead.

Eric Lewis' punt return gave San Diego State a 7-0 lead just 5:04 into the game. Lewis broke four tackles on the way to the end zone.

San Diego State (4-6, 3-3 WAC) also added a 43-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Spencer Brinton to Jesus Reyes and Justin Watson had a 2-yard scoring run in the first half.

San Jose State (2-7, 2-4) scored in the first half on a 44-yard flanker pass from Gabe Payne to Shawn Green. In the second half, the Spartans scored on a 12-yard pass from Brian Vye to Billy Vuniwai and a 3-yard run by Donte Scarbrough.

San Diego State, which gained 289 yards in the first half, got field goals of 35 and 39 yards from Nate Tandberg in the second half and Brinton threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Gray McNeill.

Brinton, making his third start, was 14-of-26 for 248 yards with one interception.

Reyes caught five passes for 106 yards.
