Sanders asks supporters to help Feingold in Senate bid
May. 26, 2016
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is asking his donors to support Russ Feingold's U.S. Senate bid.
Sanders campaign officials issued a news release Thursday saying they have sent an email to Sanders' national fundraising list asking for donations to Feingold.
The release said Sanders has used his fundraising operation in the past to help congressional candidates in Nevada, New York, Washington and Florida. Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said putting candidates like Feingold in the Senate means the chamber will put working families first.
Feingold, a Democrat, held one of Wisconsin's Senate seats for 18 years. Republican Ron Johnson ousted him in the 2010 elections. Feingold is challenging Johnson in November to get the seat back.
Johnson's campaign spokesman didn't immediately respond to an email.
