Yankees' Petitte Resumes Throwing
Mar. 15, 1999
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte took a small step forward today.
Pettitte reported no problems after playing catch for the first time since leaving his spring debut after one inning March 7 because of a muscle strain in his throwing elbow.
``I didn't feel anything,'' said Pettitte, who might throw off a mound later this week. ``The biggest test is stepping on the mound, taking five minutes off and cranking it up again.''
Pettitte is scheduled to play catch again Tuesday before leaving the team to attend his grandfather's funeral Wednesday in Baton Rouge, La.
