Puerto Rico's El Yunque forest partially reopens
May. 17, 2014
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Portions of Puerto Rico's popular El Yunque rain forest were reopened on Saturday, the U.S. Forest Service said.
Three areas of the well-known tourist attraction are now again open — the visitor center, a waterfall and one trail. All other trails and facilities remain closed at the only tropical rain forest in the U.S. National Forest system.
Officials had closed the forest following heavy rains last week that caused flooding and damaged roads and trails.
