BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) _ Prince Charles may help ratchet down tensions that have existed between Britain and Argentina since they went to war over the Falkland Islands.

President Carlos Menem said Wednesday he expects the heir to the British throne to visit Argentina this year, although he gave no dates.

The pending visit ``is proof the relations between England and Argentina are growing positively,'' Menem said.

In Britain, a royal family spokesman said there was no announcement Wednesday on Prince Charles' travel plans.

Last October, Menem became the first Argentine president to visit Britain since the 10-week war fought in 1982. Although Britain won, Argentina still claims the Falklands.
