GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — A 13-year-old boy and his horse suffered minor injuries when they were struck by a pickup truck at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Wyoming.
Gillette Police Sgt. Jason Marcus says the incident occurred about 9 p.m. Sunday.
Marcus tells the Gillette News-Record (http://bit.ly/2usUixM ) that the boy fell from the horse and had road rash on his arm and pain to his ribs and hip. The horse had a large cut on its rear leg and a split lip.
The car had front-end damage of about $1,000.
Marcus says the 17-year-old girl driving the pickup did not stop at the scene of the crash but was later found and ticketed for hit and run.
Police wouldn't release any other details or say whether any were rodeo contestants.
