HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) _ Frank Walker's layup with three seconds left gave Hofstra a 62-60 victory over Lehigh Monday night and enabled the Flying Dutchmen to finish in second place in the East Coast Conference.
Leroy Allen scored 19 points for Hofstra, 15-12 overall and 9-5 in ECC play, in the season's regular-season finale for both teams. Luke Murphy added 12 points.
Daren Queenan had a game-high 20 points for the Engineers, 13-14 and 6-8, who led 33-29 at halftime. Bill Cheslock fllowed with 16.
Two free throws by Tim Russell with 4:09 left in the first half gave Lehigh its biggest advantage, 27-20. Frank Arnold tied the score 60-60 for Hofstra on a 15-foot jumper with 48 seconds remaining.
After Russell missed the first of a 1-and-1 free throw situation, Allen grabbed the rebound and Hofstra called timeout, setting the stage for Walker's game-winner.
