Marlins Sign Versatile Fox

MIAMI (AP) _ Utility player Andy Fox signed a one-year contract with the Florida Marlins on Wednesday.
Fox, acquired from Arizona for outfielder Danny Bautista in June, hit .244 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 69 games with Florida last season.
One of the Marlins' most versatile players, Fox hit .290 with two homers over the final 44 games of the season.
He played seven different positions for the Diamondbacks and Marlins. He equaled two Florida records by playing five positions during the season and three in one game. He played shortstop, second base and left field against Cincinnati on Aug. 4.
He started 40 games for Florida, including 28 at shortstop, eight at third base, three in right field and one at second base. He also saw action in left field.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
