Nationals' Fick Has Elbow Surgery

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Robert Fick of the Washington Nationals had surgery on his right elbow Monday.
The backup catcher and first baseman had loose bones removed by Dr. Tim Kremchek in Cincinnati. Fick is scheduled to return to spring training Tuesday and begin hitting and throwing within a week. The Nationals expect him to be ready to play by opening day on April 3.
Fick had been bothered by a sore elbow since the first week of spring training.
