Ranch King Tractors Recalled
Jul. 29, 1999
WASHINGTON (AP) _ The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 1,600 riding lawn mowers Thursday because of faulty fuel lines that may cause fires.
Two WCI Outdoor Products' tractors _ the Ranch King and the Ranch King Pro _ may have fuel lines which are installed too close to engine parts that can sever the line.
``Because of the way the gasoline line is routed around the gears, it can leak and allow gasoline to spill out,'' said commission spokesman Ken Giles. The company is going to repair it and move the gasoline line, he said.
WCI Products of Cleveland has received a report of one minor fire and two reports of damaged fuel lines, but no injuries.
The mowers were sold exclusively at Quality Farm & Fleet stores in the Midwest and East for $1,400 to $1,700. Owners should call (888) 677-2995 to determine if their mower is part of the recall.
