Man With HIV Gets 90 Years for Sexually Assaulting Step-Grandson
Feb. 02, 1996
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) _ A man with the AIDS virus who molested his 8-year-old step-grandson got 90 years in prison for assault with intent to murder. The man forced the boy's younger brother to watch the attacks.
The older boy twice tested negative for HIV, but doctors planned more tests. In a questionnaire asking what should be done to the defendant, the boy marked ``go to jail,'' then wrote ``electric chair.''
His 47-year-old step-grandfather was convicted in December of sexually assaulting him several times in 1994.
``What you've done is horrific beyond description. ... You've robbed this young man of his childhood,'' Carroll County Circuit Judge Raymond Beck said during sentencing Thursday.
The attacks took place in the attic of the man's home in Upperco, just north of Baltimore, and in a family van.
The Associated Press is withholding the man's name to protect the identity of the victim.
