TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ Sparked by Antonio Pryor's 54-yard fumble return for a touchdown, Indiana State scored 23 unanswered points Saturday afternoon to beat Illinois State 23-7 in the Gateway Conference.

Indiana State (6-2, 3-0 in the Gateway) barely outgained Illinois State, but the Redbirds (2-5, 0-3) committed three turnovers, including the first quarter fumble that led to Pryor's touchdown to make it 7-0.

Indiana State held Illinois State to just 45 yards rushing on 35 attempts and outgained the Redbirds 245 yards to 224.

Kevin Cox threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Tubbs, and Matt Gajewski scored on a 10-yard run for Indiana State.

Illinois State avoided the shutout with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Lester Anderson to Jarrett Jackson with less than a minute to play. Anderson completed 27-of-39 passes for 179 yards.
