LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A man who may have been kicked out of a neighborhood bar returned with a gun and opened fire early today, killing a bartender and wounding at least four other people, police said.

Three of the wounded were in critical condition today, said Lt. Raul Vega. A fourth man who was shot in the hand was in good condition, he said.

Investigators believe a woman also was wounded but left the Suku Suku Club before talking to detectives, Vega said.

No arrests had been made, he said.

''One and possibly more people came to the bar and a confrontation took place in the doorway,'' Vega said. ''Shots were fired. As a result one person was killed and four others were wounded - that we know of.''

He said there was ''speculation that the person involved was ejected from the bar or had been involved in an argument earlier.''

In December 1982, police were called to the club to investigate a homicide. Just hours before, a patron had been ejected and returned to the bar with a gun.
