RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Massachusetts fugitive has been arrested in Reno on federal warrants accusing him of multiple counts of raping and assaulting children.
The U.S. Marshals Service says federal agents arrested 42-year-old Daniel Escalante Sunday night near the baggage area at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Escalante was being held without bail Monday in the Washoe County jail awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts, where he is on the state police most wanted list.
Federal marshals say they learned he was living in Nevada under an alias. He's wanted on five counts of child rape with force, two counts of assault to rape a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery against a child younger than 14 years old.
