CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ John Rillie scored 19 points as the Australian National team beat No. 5 Clemson 77-71 Friday night in exhibition basketball.

Clemson, down by 12 with 3:54 left, closed to 73-71 on a 3-pointer by Terrell McIntyre with 28 seconds to go.

But Brett Maher hit four free throws to keep the Australians ahead.

The game was played under NCAA experimental rules with 10-minute quarters and a 40-second shot clock.

Greg Buckner led Clemson with 21 points, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Iker Iturbe had 15 points, and McIntyre finished with 10 points and eight assists.
