RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) _ Twelve people, including Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood, were taken off a disabled yacht moments before it burned.
The yacht, the Agua Branca, was destroyed in Wednesday's incident about 100 miles east of Rio de Janeiro. The passengers escaped safely onto a nearby boat and were taken to the nearby Park's Island.
Wood and fellow Rolling Stone Keith Richards were visiting the Island owned by cosmetic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy before a concert scheduled for Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, officials said.
Wood and other members of the group were traveling back to the island when the boat had a mechanical failure. Richards was not on the yacht, which Pitanguy also owns.
``Ron is resting now and he is fine. We left the boat just minutes before the fire broke out,'' said Luis Pastore, who was on the boat when it broke down.
