TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ David Eldridge ran 17 and four yards for touchdowns Saturday night as Arizona unleashed a strong running attack to turn back Texas Tech 35-19 in college football.
Arizona of the Pacific-10 Conference is 2-0, while Texas Tech of the Southwest Conference fell to 0-2.
Arizona spotted the Red Raiders a 13-point lead for the first quarter but then put together five straight touchdown drives, including marches of 86, 80 and 79 yards, to lead 35-13 late in the third quarter.
The Wildcats' last scoring drive in the string ended with a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bobby Watters to wide receiver Melvin Smith.
Arizona led 21-13 at halftime on Eldridge's 17-yard run and touchdown runs of two yards each by Mario Hampton and Art Greathouse.
On the game's first series, Texas Tech quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver connected with running back James Gray for an 85-yard touchdown on a screen pass.
Scott Segrist kicked a 24-yard field goal less than three minutes later after defensive end Terry Lynch recovered a Reggie McGill fumble at Arizona's 16. Segrist added a 49-yard field goal after cornerback Merv Scurlock picked off a Watters pass.
