MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ Seven people drowned and two others were missing after huge waves swept away office workers picnicking on a beach, a company official said today.

The incident happened Monday in the town of Morong, 50 miles west of Manila, said Menlou Pibonia, vice president for marketing of Jollibee Foods Corp. She said the victims worked at the Jollibee fast food outlet in nearby San Fernando.

A radio report said the victims were playing volleyball in shallow water when large waves swept them out to sea.
