MIAMI (AP) _ Sheri Sam scored 19 points as the Miami Sol beat the Indiana Fever 65-59 Sunday.

The Sol (4-9) had a season-low five turnovers, and just one in the second half as they held off a rally by the Fever.

``I think we're starting to do the things we need to do to get the wins,'' Miami coach Ron Rothstein said. ``When you take care of the basketball like that, you give yourselves a chance.''

Nikki McCray's layup made it 61-59 with 43.1 seconds left, but Betty Lennox scored four points in the final 14 seconds.

Ruth Riley had 12 points and Sandy Brondello added 11 for the Sol.

``We're learning how to finish things out,'' Sam said. ``The losses we've had were hard but we never lost our confidence.''

Reserve guard Rita Williams scored a season-high 17 points for Indiana (6-8), which lost for the fifth time in its last six road games.

``The Sol made a run in the second half, and we didn't,'' Indiana coach Nell Fortner said. ``That was the difference in the game.''

Tamika Catchings was the only Indiana starter in double figures, scoring 11 points. She sat out the final 2:56 after being struck inadvertently in the nose.

Notes: Riley played the last 12 minutes, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor in the second half. She is still bothered by a broken pinkie finger. ... The Fever, who had shot 86 free throws in their last four games, shot only five on Sunday, making three. ... Miami improved its record to 2-9 when scoring fewer than 70 points. Indiana fell to 1-7 when it fails to score 70.
