LONDON (AP) — Britain's Anthony Crolla will fight Ismael Barosso of Venezuela in the first defense of his WBA lightweight title.
Promoters announced Friday that the fight will be held in Crolla's hometown of Manchester on May 7.
Crolla, who has a career record of 30-4-3, says: "I am under no illusion that this is a tough task but there was no way I was not going to take the fight."
Barosso (19-0-2) is the mandatory challenger after his fifth-round stoppage of Kevin Mitchell in December.
Crolla captured the world title with a fifth-round knockout of Darleys Perez in November.
