WEMBLEY, England (AP) _ England defeated Yugoslavia 2-0 Wednesday in a Group Four qualifying match for the European soccer Championship.

Goals by midfielder Gary Mabbutt at the 21-minute mark and fullback Viv Anderson at 57 minuets, swept England to the top of the standings.

Zlatko Vujovic, the Yugoslavs' captain, missed five clear openings in a match, which also saw two players taken off the field on stretchers off and another, England's Glenn Hoddle, playing the last 10 minutes swathed in bandages around his head, and blood running down his shirt.

Yugoslavia's winger Semir Tuce, one of the stars of its 4-0 victory over Turkey, went off with a possible broken leg only 30 seconds after coming on as substitute, and England's Steve Hodge was carried off after butting heads with Hoddle.
