AMSTERDAM (AP) — Maccabi Tel Aviv has hired Peter Bosz as coach on an 18-month contract.

Bosz, who is moving to Tel Aviv from Dutch league club Vitesse Arnhem, says he "listened to their plans and decided to accept this challenge."

The 52-year-old Bosz has been in charge of Vitesse since 2013 and led the team to fifth place last season.

Maccabi CEO Martin Bain says "to secure the services of a highly rated European coach such as Peter is not only a major coup but testament to the progress Maccabi has continued to make in recent times."

Vitesse appointed Bosz's assistant, Rob Maas, as interim coach.
