Steelers' Scott Hurts Knee
Nov. 14, 1999
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Chad Scott sprained his right knee in the second quarter Sunday against Cleveland and did not return to the game.
Scott planted his knee awkwardly as he tried to make a tackle on Browns receiver Kevin Johnson, and the injury initially appeared serious. But Scott hopped up after a few minutes on the turf and jogged off the field.
He missed the 1998 season after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery, but it was to his left knee.
Deshea Townsend, who replaced Scott, left later with a concussion, forcing third-team cornerback Jason Simmons to play the second half.
Browns receiver Leslie Shepherd left in the second quarter with a sprained calf and also did not return.
Cleveland upset the Steelers 16-15.
