PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) _ Paul O'Neill, Randy Velarde and Jim Leyritz homered as part of a 15-hit attack, and the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets 8-0 Saturday.
Bob Ojeda earned the win with three scoreless innings in the Yankees' spring debut. The former Met hopes to become a fifth starter or long reliever.
Anthony Young started for the Mets and matched Ojeda with three scoreless innings. But the Yankees rocked relievers Bobby Jones and Bob Kipper for 10 hits and seven runs.
O'Neill opened the scoring with a solo homer to start the fourth inning. The Yankees added two runs in the fifth, and three in the eighth.
The Mets have scored just once in two games, losing 6-1 Friday to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the exhibition opener.
