WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) _ Senior Corey Albano scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Monmouth led from wire-to-wire in a 78-62 win over Robert Morris on Monday.
Leading 8-6, Monmouth (9-6, 5-2 Northeast Conference) outhustled Robert Morris (2-13, 1-6) 15-5 to build a 23-11 lead with 7:08 left in the half.
Trailing 41-26 at the start of the half, the Colonials would get no closer than 12 in the second and fell behind by as many as 20 as head coach Jim Boone was ejected with 9:50 remaining.
Ten Hawks scored to overcome the absence of senior guard Mustafa Barksdale, who was suspended for tardiness to team practice.
Mike Perno had a career-high 11 points for Monmouth, while Quin Hayes had a career-high 9 points.
Sophomore guard Seth Truman had 16 points to lead Robert Morris, which lost its fourth straight. Javier Smith had 11 points, five rebounds and eight assists for the Colonials.
