Law enforcer sentenced to 2 years in child porn probe
Dec. 22, 2017
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A former sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to two years in prison for possession of child pornography.
A Thursday statement from the Maryland U.S. Attorney's office says Alexander C. Sullivan is a former sheriff's deputy in Charles County. The 38-year-old will be under supervised release following a two-year prison term.
Prosecutors say a company that provides technological security alerted authorities to suspicious images being uploaded to a phone in late 2016. An officer from Charles County determined it belonged to Sullivan.
Investigators searching the phone say they found more than 100 images and at least seven videos containing child pornography.
The case was prosecuted as part of a Department of Justice initiative to combat the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
Sullivan is from the Virginia county of King George.
