NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Country singer Eddie Rabbitt's 23-month-old son has died of complications from liver transplant surgery, the entertainer's publicist says.
Timothy Edward Rabbitt, born Aug. 12, 1983, died Tuesday afternoon at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis after undergoing the operation July 11, said publicist Kathy Gangwisch.
Ms. Gangwisch said Wednesday she did not know what disease the boy had or what the complications were.
''It was determined that he had to have it (the transplant) to live and for whatever reason had been a candidate for some time,'' she said. ''The child was operated on last week and died of complications.''
Nursing supervisor Sue Bloomquist said the boy was treated at the hospital, but declined further comment. She referred all questions to Ms. Gangwisch.
Rabbitt, 40, and his wife, Janine, have one other child, 4-year-old daughter Demelza.
Rabbitt is known for such songs as ''I Love A Rainy Night,'' ''Every Which Way But Loose,'' and ''Drivin' My Life Away.''
