ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A northern Illinois school district says it will save $7.4 million in the coming fiscal year by eliminating more than 100 positions from its payroll.

The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/1Hbm92n ) reports that 29 of the 103 positions are vacant and nearly half are administrative positions.

The cuts take effect at the end of the current school year. Superintendent Ehren Jarrett says that many of the employees affected by the cuts will move into jobs that become open through attrition.
