LONDON (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says Manchester United is in talks to sign former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The 32-year-old Valdes has been at United training with the first team since October while rehabilitating from a knee injury.

The person with knowledge of the deal says the Spaniard has been in talks about signing a contract to play for United, whose first-choice goalkeeper is David de Gea. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been completed.

Valdes, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in March, has been a free agent since being released by Barcelona at the end of last season.

Valdes played under United manager Louis van Gaal at Barcelona.
