London Double-Decker Bus Crashes
Oct. 14, 1999
LONDON (AP) _ A double-decker bus crashed through a wall today and plunged 30 feet down an embankment, landing on its side. The 10 people aboard escaped with only minor injuries, authorities said.
The No. 3 bus, which was virtually empty as it neared the end of its southeast London route, careered out of control after colliding with a car, police said.
A 14-year-old boy was trapped in the wreckage for 30 minutes, but was not seriously hurt. The other passengers had mostly cuts and bruises, police said.
``It's very lucky that no one was more seriously hurt,'' said Karl Mullis, operations manager of the London Ambulance Service.
