Advanced manufacturing program launched at voke schools
Dec. 16, 2017
BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker's administration is hoping to make it easier for working adults to gain the skills needed to enter the state's booming advanced manufacturing sector.
A new program announced by state officials will allow residents to enroll in evening classes at 10 vocational high schools.
Students would be eligible for state or federal financial aid and earn a certificate in advanced manufacturing by completing the course. The certificate could also be converted into college credits toward an associate's degree at colleges and universities that partner with the state.
State officials say the program is flexible to meet the needs of adults who are working and raising families.
Up to 300 students are expected to enroll in the Advanced Manufacturing Certificate Program in the first year.
