Israeli Troops Fire on Protesters

SARIT, Israel (AP) _ Israeli soldiers fired Saturday toward hundreds of Lebanese demonstrators who converged on the Israeli-Lebanese border fence, and several Lebanese were injured, Israeli witnesses said.
The protest took place only a few feet from the Israeli border community of Sarit, said a resident, Srulik Tayeb.
Tayeb told Israel army radio that several bus loads of Lebanese protesters arrived at the border fence Saturday morning. The crowd began banging on the fence, and Israeli troops eventually opened fire, injuring five Lebanese, Tayeb said.
The army confirmed a confrontation at the border fence, but had no immediate detail.
