GRENOBLE, France (AP) _ Larry Koretz, a former La Salle basketball player, says he's sore, but feeling okay after being hit by a car Saturday. A person talking to Koretz on the sidewalk was killed in the accident.
Koretz, 22, a Wilkes Barre, Pa., native, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Wednesay that he suffered a broken bone in his neck and deep cuts on both legs.
''I'm hanging in there, but I'm pretty sore,'' Koretz said from his room in Michallon Hospital. ''My legs are pretty cut up.''
He said he remembered very little about the accident, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. following the Grenoble team's last game of the season. He has played here since mid-September.
Police sources said Koretz and two others were hit by a drunk driver whose car swerved out of control and ran up on the curb where the three were talking. The accident left one dead and one injured.
Koretz said he had been operated on twice this week and did not know how long he would be hospitalized.
