Fla. Mom Gets 3 Life Terms for Murders
Nov. 02, 2004
SANFORD, Fla. (AP) _ A woman who admitted fatally poisoning her three children on Mother's Day was sentenced Tuesday to three life terms without parole.
Andrea Williams, 32, pleaded guilty to three first-degree murder counts in exchange for prosecutors agreeing to waive the death penalty.
Williams fed fatal doses of the prescription drug Xanax to Ilona, 9, Ian, 6, and Ivey, 5, and lay down with them until they fell asleep.
``When I woke up,'' she told the court, ``they weren't breathing.''
After the May 9 murders, Williams fled to the North Carolina home of a woman with whom she'd had a relationship. She was arrested and confessed two days after the killings.
``I just want you to know I'm sorry for all the pain I caused,'' Williams said to her family at the sentencing hearing. ``Please don't forgive me for my sake. Forgive me for your sake. It's what (the children) would have wanted.''
