MARION, Ark. (AP) — The Latest on the fatal shooting of a teenager outside of an Arkansas youth shelter (all times local):

3:20 p.m.

Arkansas State Police have identified a teenager who died after he was shot by officers outside a youth shelter in eastern Arkansas.

State Police on Wednesday identified Aries Clark as the 16-year-old who died at a hospital overnight in Memphis, Tennessee, after the shooting. Police say the shooting occurred Tuesday night shooting outside the East Arkansas Youth Services in Marion, a city about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Memphis.

State police said Marion police officers responded to the shelter at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday and "moments later" reported that a teenager had been shot by police.

State Police would not say whether Clark was a resident at the facility or what led to the shooting. Marion Police did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Arkansas Department of Human Services spokeswoman Amy Webb says the shelter contracts with the state to provide services to children in foster care and children who have been involved in the juvenile justice system.

Authorities are investigating after police shot and critically wounded a 16-year-old boy outside of an emergency shelter for juveniles in eastern Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police say the shooting happened Tuesday night at the emergency shelter in Marion, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Memphis, Tennessee.

State police said in a press release that Marion police officers responded to the shelter at 7:08 p.m. and "moments later" reported that a teenager had been shot and wounded by police.

Special agents with the Arkansas State Police criminal investigation division are investigating the shooting.

More information on the shooting is expected to be released Wednesday.
