JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) _ Two separate landslides buried homes and left at least 11 people dead on Indonesia's main island of Java, police and news reports said Thursday.
One landslide early Wednesday buried at least 25 houses in Windusari village, about 155 miles east of Jakarta, said Lt. Djoko, a local police officer.
He said rescuers had recovered seven bodies, but local residents feared as many as 29 additional people were still buried.
Rescue efforts were called off Thursday when heavy rains made the area unsafe, Djoko said.
In a separate landslide, four people were killed and one was believed missing on Tuesday in neighboring East Java province, the official Antara news agency said Thursday.
