Icy Roads Leads To 60 Car Pileup

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) _ At least 60 cars and five tractor-trailers crashed on an icy stretch of interstate north of Kansas City on Sunday.
A dispatcher for the Missouri State Highway Patrol could not confirm broadcasts reports of deaths.
Interstate 29 was closed in both directions.
Falling snow covered already icy roads, making driving dangerous across the region.
Derrick Thomas, a star linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, was seriously injured in a separate, one-vehicle crash Sunday. A spokeswoman for Liberty Hospital confirmed that the football player was there, but declined to confirm reports that his back had been injured.
Chiefs' spokesman Bob Moore confirmed that another person in the vehicle with Thomas had died.
