CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) — A new universally accessible kayak and canoe launch is opening at Mitchell State Park in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to mark the official opening of the launch at Mitchell State Park in Wexford County. The launch is located near the public beach along Lake Cadillac.

The Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce 2017 leadership class selected the kayak and canoe launch as its community service project. Class members raised more than $45,000 for the project. The DNR supplied materials for a new parking area, accessible pathway and decking.
