NEW YORK (AP) _ Summer Tale, carrying 121 pounds and ridden by Nick Santagata, raced to a three-length victory in the $84,000 Hollie Hughes Handicap for New York-bred 3-year-olds and up Sunday at Aqueduct.

Sir Smokem, 119 and E.T. Baird aboard, was runner-up, three-quarters of a length ahead of Fast Lead, 113 with Richard Migliore.

The victory was the first in three starts this year for Summer Tale, who went six furlongs in 1:11 1-5 on the fast track to earn $50,400 for Gold-N Oats Stable and returned $9.40, $3.80 and $2.80.

Sir Smokem paid $2.60 and $2.20, and Fast Lead, who was coupled in the wagering with Miss Angel T., returned $3 in the field of seven.
