Safin, Grosjean, Clement Win in Lyon

LYON, France (AP) _ Top-seeded Marat Safin, without a title in 2002, reached the second round of the Lyon Grand Prix by beating 16-year-old Richard Gasquet 6-4, 7-6 (5) Tuesday.
Safin won the 2000 U.S. Open and was the Australian Open runner-up and a French Open semifinalist this year.
Also Tuesday, Sebastien Grosjean beat fellow Frenchman and doubles partner Cedric Pioline 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.
Grosjean's Davis Cup teammates Arnaud Clement and Nicolas Escude also won. Clement beat qualifier Julien Benneteau 6-4, 6-2, while Escude eliminated Davide Sanguinetti 7-6 (4), 6-1.
