PITTSBURGH (AP) _ American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $60.3 million.

On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 34 cents.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 31 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $964.9 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $944.9 million.

For the current quarter ending in November, American Eagle expects its per-share earnings to range from 45 cents to 47 cents.

American Eagle shares have risen 45 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
