Cage, Arquette To Divorce
Feb. 25, 2000
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage and actress Patricia Arquette are ending their five-year marriage.
The couple married in April 1995 and separated nine months later, according to a divorce petition Cage filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday.
Cage and Arquette cited ``irreconcilable differences,'' said Cage's publicist, Annett Wolf, who declined to elaborate on the breakup.
Cage won a best actor Oscar in 1995 for his role as an alcoholic in ``Leaving Las Vegas.'' In his upcoming film, ``Gone in Sixty Seconds,'' he plays a car thief.
Arquette, the sister of actors David and Rosanna Arquette, played a possessed woman in last year's horror film ``Stigmata.''
The couple appeared together last year in the Martin Scorsese ambulance drama ``Bringing Out the Dead.''
