Maritim, Pozdniakova win marathons

CLEVELAND (AP) _ Sammy Maritim of Kenya won the men's marathon and Tatiana Pozdniakova of Ukraine was the women's champion in the 20th Cleveland Marathon and 10K Run on Sunday.
Maritim completed the 26-mile, 385-yard race in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 58 seconds. Pozdniakova won the women's division in 2:33:27.
Joseph Kimani of Kenya won the men's 10-kilometer run in 27:50, the second straight year he has won the race. Mexico's Maria Luisa Servin took the women's 10K in 33:43.
Maritim, Ruben Maza of Venezuela, Andrew Musava of Farmington, N.M., Elias Bastos of Brazil and Kenya's Sammy Nyangincha were together after 20 miles. Maza finished second in 2:12:15, Musava third in 2:13:03 and Bastos fourth in 2:14:18.
Roberto Pedro Dias of Brazil was fifth in 2:14:36. Nyangincha faded to eighth.
Finishing behind Posdniakova in the women's marathon were Lyubov Klochko of Ukraine (2:35:27), Larisa Zyzuko (2:36:07), Tatiana Titova of Russia (2:36:25) and Danuta Bartoszak of Canada (2:37:38).
The marathon winners each won $15,000. The 10K winners each received $5,000, with Kimani earnibng a $2,500 bonus for finishing in less than 28 minutes.
