COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Rookie Manager John Hart of Rochester, whose team was shut out in the International League's all-star voting, has been selected the IL's 1986 manager of the year.

The league announced the award Thursday in a poll of players, managers, front-office personnel and the media.

Pat Dodson, Pawtucket's power-hitting first baseman, was chosen as the IL's most valuable player and Tidewater rookie John Mitchell the league's most valuable pitcher.

Columbus first baseman Orestes Destrade, who was lost to the Clippers for the season on July 24 because of a broken ankle, was selected rookie of the year.
