Police: Arrest made in downtown Omaha fatal shooting
Jun. 09, 2018
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Police have arrested a man in connection to a downtown Omaha shooting that left one woman dead and six others with gunshot wounds.
Omaha police arrested 20-year-old Markese Davis on Friday. He was jailed on suspicion of felony probation violation and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
Police say the shooting happened the night of June 2 as people were leaving the Taste of Omaha festival. Police say the shooting was between two rival gangs and that several of those shot were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. That included 20-year-old Jasmine Harris, who was killed.
Police have not said what role Davis is suspected of having in the shooting. The Omaha World-Herald reports that Davis was on probation for a 2016 conviction of having a stolen gun at the time of the June 2 shooting.
