Braves, Rockies Postponed by Snow
Apr. 18, 1998
DENVER (AP) _ Friday night's Atlanta-Colorado game was postponed by a combination of rain and snow with the score 1-1 in the middle of the third inning, and the game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader Sunday.
The game was delayed 2 hours, 18 minutes before umpires finally called it at 10:06 p.m. MDT.
Ground crews twice began to remove the tarp, but a recurrence of precipitation prevented resumption.
The Rockies announced that Sunday's game times will be 3:05 p.m. and 9:35 p.m EDT. Mark Thompson and Jamey Wright will be the Rockies' starters. Atlanta was scheduled to go with Kevin Millwood but hadn't announced a starter for the other game.
Friday's game was the first of a scheduled four-game series at Coors Field, and this is the Braves' only scheduled trip to Colorado. Single games are scheduled for Saturday and Monday.
